Air Conditioning

1. Basic service covers all main Peugeot Air Conditioning elements – heater controls, internal blower speeds, pollen filter and drive belt.

3. Full service features renewal of air conditioning oil and refrigerant gas, plus checks of system hoses, cooling fan operation and cabin temperatures.

Brakes

KEEPING YOUR PEUGEOT BRAKES SAFE
1. Your car’s braking system will be checked as part of its MOT test.
2. Your Peugeot dealer will be happy to check your car brakes for you any time you think there may be a problem.

Brake Fluid

THE FLUID YOUR PEUGEOT BRAKES DEPEND ON
1. Brake fluid deteriorates over time and needs replacing at least every two years to keep you car brakes working efficiently.
2. Peugeot will put new brake fluid in during your Scheduled Service if required.
3. It’s easy to check the brake fluid level for yourself – top the reservoir up to “MAX” if necessary.
4. If you need to keep topping the fluid up, it could mean there’s a leak or that the pads or shoes are worn
Your Peugeot dealer will be happy to check the brake fluid for you if you ever think something may be wrong.

Diesel Particulate Filter

WHAT IS A DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER?
A Diesel Particulate Filter (FAP) is part of the vehicle’s exhaust system. It traps “soot” particles created during the normal operation of the diesel engine. These are the particles which used to be visible from the exhaust pipes of older diesel vehicles as “black smoke”.

WHY IS A DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER FITTED?
In order to meet European emission legislation, it is necessary for all vehicle manufacturers to fit a filter that cleans up the exhaust gasses leaving the engine.

HOW DOES A DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER OPERATE?
The filter is made up of a ceramic core which the exhaust gasses are forced through by the temperature and pressure created as they leave the engine. The “soot” particles are trapped in the filter until a predetermined level is reached. At this point the filter will clean itself by a process called regeneration, which increases the temperature inside the filter and incinerates any trapped soot particles inside the filter.

DOES HOW I DRIVE AFFECT THE PROCESS?
In order to complete the regeneration process the temperature of the Diesel Particulate Filter needs to be increased and maintained. When driving on A-roads and dual carriageways, the temperature and pressure of the exhaust gases is sufficient to complete the process without any assistance. If, however, the vehicle is operated in an urban environment, with frequent stopping and starting of the engine and long periods at idle, the temperature and pressure of the exhaust gases is considerably reduced. In this situation, the filter might not regenerate without assistance from the driver. If this situation occurs the driver is informed by the illumination of a warning lamp and a message in the vehicle’s information screen.

Oil Check and Top Up

HOW DO I CHECK THE OIL LEVEL IN MY CAR?

Checking your oil is simple – just follow the steps below:

1. Switch off the engine
Park the car on a level surface and make sure the engine has been switched off for at least five minutes.
Locate and clean dipstick
Open the bonnet, locate the dipstick and remove it before wiping the oil off the dipstick using a clean cloth. Look for the oil level marks on the end of the dipstick.

2. Check oil level
Check your existing engine oil level by pushing the dipstick slowly all the way into its tube, then pulling it out again. The oil level should be between the upper and lower level marks. If the level is near the lower mark, you need to top up the oil.

3. Top-up oil level
If you need to top up your oil, remove the oil filler cap. Pour in some oil and wait a few seconds for the oil to drain down to the bottom of the engine and then re-check the level, taking care not to overfill it.

Pollen Filters

KEEPING THE AIR FRESH IN YOUR PEUGEOT
If the air seems stale in your car or the windscreen takes too long to de-mist, it could be a sign that your pollen filter needs changing
The pollen filter will be replaced at each Peugeot Scheduled Service, but you can have it checked whenever you like
Our pollen filters trap dust, industrial particles, spores and bacteria – as well as pollen, of course
Our standard filter is the Classic, but we also offer Comfort and Premium Comfort ranges for people with particular sensitivities or allergies

Timing Belts

PROTECTING YOUR ENGINE
1. It makes sense to have your timing belt checked regularly.
2. The belt helps control the moving parts in your engine, including the crankshaft, camshaft and valves.
3. It’s made of a rubber-based compound and can deteriorate through general wear and tear.
4. If your timing belt fails, you may need to have your whole engine replaced.

Tyres

WHY NOT HAVE YOUR TYRES CHECKED FREE BY OUR EXPERTS?
You should check the tyre pressure in your tyres every two weeks, before you drive on them – remember the spare too
Regularly check the tread depth of your Peugeot tyres and look out for cuts, cracks and other signs of damage
Peugeot recommends tyres should be replaced when the tread depth goes below 3mm – the legal minimum is 1.6mm
Our trained tyre technicians will check your tyres free of charge, and tell you how long they’re likely to last

Wiper Blades

KEEP YOUR WIPER BLADES UP TO SCRATCH
It’s a good idea to have your windscreen wipers checked at least once a year.
Using a good-quality additive in your screen wash will help to keep your wipers working well.
Ineffective wipers could mean you fail your MOT.
Badly deteriorated wiper blades can even scratch your windscreen.
If your wiper blades need replacing, we’ll fit new ones at an affordable price.
